It is 90 km from Agadir, the economic capital of the Souss Massa daraâ region, the city of Tiznit has something to amaze its visitors. It is made up of the old medina and the new town.
The old medina of Tiznit is inside a rampart of several km with high and wide walls with innumerable towers and several access portals of which the main one is Bab Ouled Jerar. This old medina is made up of various popular districts, several kasbahs including that of Aghennaj which houses the city museum and the famous Source Bleue which gave birth to Tiznit.
But also, there is a vast Méchouar with cafes and commercial shops. It is the place that knew the most activity before the existence of the new city. It is also the place where the closing evening of the Tiznit carnival festivities takes place.
The Carnival of “Imaâchar” and the Silver Festival of the city of Tiznit are ranked among the most important in the region. These two events are held respectively in February and August of each year.
