Founded in 1062 by an Almoravid king, MARRAKECH takes its name from the Tamazight words “Mour” and “Akouch” which can be translated as “THE LAND OF GOD”.
Very quickly, MARRAKECH became a metropolis religious, cultural and commercial so influential that it imposes itself as the capital of the Almoravid Emirate which extends from Senegal to the center of Spain and the Atlantic to the current Algerian capital, Algiers.< br>The splendid palaces that are built there in a unique style that merges Andalusian, Saharan and West African ornamental influences, the incredible Medina of nearly 700 hectares surrounded by 19 kilometers of ramparts, positions MARRAKECH as the new “PEARL OF THE SOUTH”.
