Today’s Morocco offers in its cities a mixture of influences whose rates differ singularly between the windward coasts of the commercial capitals of the Christian West and the protected lands of the Rif and Atlas mountains.
In the heart of the cities as in that of each region, immemorial traditions throb – traditions on which the Koranic faith is grafted, which gives a divine meaning to the most daily gestures. Despite this, this Islam has opened up to the technical revolutions and the moral evolution of this end of the century, obscurantisms are pushed back and the tracks of the past are gradually giving way to asphalt roads.
