This guest house is run by Zoubir Chattou, seduced a few years ago by Moulay Idriss and by this very special building. The choice to invest in this house was for him the way to get to know this city better and to contribute to promoting a sustainable and united tourism, in full emergence. Although this tourism is still discreet, it accompanies its development as well as possible, with values of respect, quality and sharing with the other actors of the city and the surrounding countryside.
Magnificent jars, formerly storing olives , adorn the entrance as if they had occupied this place from the origin of the place. Two imposing interior doors still have to be crossed before discovering the house as a whole. A diffuse light comes to water a central patio where, on three floors are distributed a set of rooms, nooks, living rooms… One has the impression of crossing four houses in one with secret interiors and unsuspected atmospheres from the alleys and the square so nearby.
A fountain leaning against one of the walls, all in zelliges, creates a magical atmosphere with its trickle of running water. The sky is invited to the heart of the patio by a skylight which serves as ventilation but also as lighting. A few niches concealed in the wall house beautiful pottery from the region. White lime, but also exposed briquettes, pure lines, woodwork adorning doors and windows, wrought iron, terracotta… this set offers a beautiful architectural homogeneity of interior, but also hides, like a labyrinth, a real complexity and immensity. of the place.
We quickly perceive that this house must have been, at a time in the history of Moulay Idriss, invested by a local personality… a Pasha or the Caïd of the city? The volumes and the number of rooms show the importance of the place and its host!
The restoration work must have been colossal, where any surface, wall, ceiling, tiles, falls within the domain of art!
Different spaces, benches, beds, etc. await you for your greatest comfort, but also to allow you to be carried away by the beauty of the rooms. Each level is covered in extraordinary detail. It’s not nothing to spend a night in such a place!
