Among the different meanings of the term “zarabia” (carpet), of Arabic origin, we note more particularly that of “flowerbed” or even “what is stretched on the ground and on which one takes support”. The berberized form is: tazerbyt. In Morocco, the word qtifa, of the same origin, is also used, which designates the high wool carpet generally woven in the high altitude regions among the Marmoucha and the Aït Ouaouzguite.
