Located in the oldest part of the Medina of Fez (Quaraouiyine district of the 9th century), this restaurant, formerly a meeting place for imminent professors of the Quaraouiyne university (245 of the hegira) recalls, name by name, the golden age of the Merinid dynasty in the 14th century.
In 1973 the home of Haj Abbas Lahlou, a teacher at the Quaraouiyne, was converted into a restaurant by the third descendant of this family (who is one of the nobles of the city), Haj Mohammed Lahlou and his wife Lalla Aicha Sqalli, considered as an essential reference in the world of the typical culinary art of the Fassis.
While remaining typical and faithful to the traditions of his ancestors, the current manager Mr Tayeb Lahlou, fourth descendant, breathes new life into this establishment since 1997.
