Riad Merstane is situated in Marrakech medina just north of the souks or markets and near the beautiful shrine and mosque of Sidi Bel Abbes, the patron saint of Marrakech and the blind. It is in a traditional and residential area of the medina where guests experience Moroccan daily life first hand and a few minutes walk from the bustling area of Bab Taghazoute where there is a convenient taxi rank, many small shops and a guarded car park. The riad also has easy car access.Riad Merstane is situated at the end of a cul de sac or derb of the same name, ‘Merstane’ meaning madhouse as the area once housed an old lunatic asylum. The tranquility of the location is much appreciated by guests after sightseeing or haggling for bargains in the souks or a long day in the mountains or on the coast.
There are several museums about 10 minutes walk away and the Majorelle Gardens in the French town of Gueliz with cafes and shops is easily accessed through the northern walls of the medina.
