In the 16th century, the Portuguese built in Mazagan, an anchorage known to Europeans since the beginning of the Christian era, a fortified town surrounded by thick walls. Two centuries later, Mazagan, liberated, becomes El Jadida “La Nouvelle”, today classified by Unesco as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In the heart of the old city, the Iglesia is a Spanish church dating of the 19th century converted into a charming hotel.
