The Berber village of Tamtettoucht is located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Its name comes from ancient times when this valley was controlled by the Aït Izdi. This family survived by harvesting while the mountain nomads survived by hunting and gathering herbs. Often, these two peoples moved into rural communities to barter goods. When the Aït Izdi family moved to the Ziz valley, these mountain nomads were invited to take care of the crops while having the right to keep part of it (half). Every year, a caravan of donkeys crossed the Atlas Mountains to deliver the harvest. It all ended with a big party. Tamda means “place with good water for planting” and Toucht means “rental land with payment in advance
