A river called Drâa gives life to a magnificent valley, the surrounding villages and nomadic camps. This river begins to be visible in Agdz and flows to M’hamid at the door of the desert, before disappearing under the sands of the Hamada du Drâa. Throughout this magnificent valley, of unique beauty and fantastic culture, the traveler discovers a harsh life but still relatively in balance with an oasis-type environment.
During this trip to the Draa Valley , you will find endless palm groves, peach trees, apricot trees, fig trees, henna plantations, alfalfa and barley fields, and fresh mint crops.
In the middle of this huge palm grove in the valley of the Drâa, you will find an extraordinary very well preserved fortified village called the Ksar de Tissergate. This ksar was built 500 years ago and it is located 8 km from the city of Zagora, the last major city before descending to the desert.
