To the west and south of the Atlas range begins the Sahara: the largest desert in the world. In Morocco, the desert settles in gently, the Draä valley or the Ziz wadi shell a string of villages and green palm groves, before losing themselves under the dunes of the ergs (Chebbi or labidlia) which extend to the foot high plateaus last reliefs before Algeria. This is the domain of the Aït Atta nomads.
